French Contemporary Artist, Alain Godon, debuts his New York Exhibit
On Thursday Night, French contemporary artist, Alain Godon, was introduced to America with his premiere U.S. exhibit officially opening at the Galerie Elysees on Central Park South. Fittingly, the exhibit was inspired by the landmark scenery of New York City and painted specifically with this exhibit in mind; with many of the paintings including subtle nods to December 4th and the Galerie Elysees, specifically.
Godon, who got his start painting chalk art outside of The Louvre in his teenage years (and was recently offered to exhibit there) paints life and society in New York City through playful child-like eyes. Having shown in major art capitals around the world including Moscow, Bali and his native Paris – his pieces are known to sell before the paint is even dry. Godon has many avid collectors and followers around the world, including a chartered flight full who arrived especially from France for the opening night. If you look closely, you’ll see that Godon sneaks caricatures of his wife, his dogs and himself into most of his works.
The Galerie Elysees, owned by The Galerie Bartoux, is one of several including 10 locations in France and another in Naples, Florida.
Guests at the opening enjoyed complimentary hors d’oeuvres and sparkly beverages courtesy of Tokyo Pop, the infamous sushi locale of choice. Among the crowd were: Adrien Field – Lifestyle Editor of My It Things, Former ‘The Apprentice‘ runner up – Kwame Jackson, Bob Bland – founder & designer of Brooklyn Royalty, Georg Szalai – Business Editor of The Hollywood Reporter, Timi Lewis of NYC TV, Dynellle Skinner of My Life on and off The Guestlist, Wendy Williams – Editor in Chief of New York Cool, Thei Zervaki of Fully Booked, Lois Sakany & Audrey Walen of High Snobette, Artist Ruddy Adames, Lela Luxe of LelaLuxe.com and Chuin-Kai Shih of GQ & Vogue Taiwan.
