Kwame Jackson partners with The Art of Talk
Last night, I went to a fête hosted by Mr. Kwame Jackson, famous for his stint on the first season of “The Apprentice” where he very memorably came in second place. Kwame felt it his duty to throw this “escape the madness” party (as he called it), in honor of the insanity that everyone in New York has been dealing with over the past couple of months due to the economic crises and the pending election. Of course, he included a purpose — by donating a portion of the night’s collective bar tab to Barack’s campaign and collecting used clothing for a public school in Harlem at which he participates in their “Principal for a Day” program.
I attended the soiree with my client: actor / filmmaker / producer and CEO of Media At Large, the very talented, Shashi Balooja. Shashi & I have been excitedly following the upcoming debut of “Art of Talk TV,” a new web portal that will stream a variety of niche Talk Shows, with “After Hours with Kwame Jackson” (Kwame’s new show) being one of the first.

Art of Talk is the brainchild of my new inspiring friend, Charlie O (of Blue Orchid Films), that will focus on 3 core prongs: the digitization of archived talk shows from back in the day, new digital talk shows hosted by noted celebrities & personalities, and niche lifestyle talk shows targeted at specific demographics.

Two of the first shows up at bat will include: “After Hours with Kwame Jackson”–a late night internet show that will merge political and pop cultural guests and allow us to see an unbuttoned version of Kwame, unencumbered by network suits or censors like we’ve seen in the past, and “Twentycents with Lauren Scala“–a show that will produce relevant, intelligent content for young adults in their twenties while giving them a platform to participate in discussion on hot button topics that are shaping their world. (You may recognize Lauren from MTV, WNBC, and her new NYCTV show called “City Scoop”, among others).

Art of Talk will officially launch on November 17th, 2008–so stay tuned for more info on all of the ‘talk’ excitement!
