A 'Vote or Die' Concert Recap
There comes a point where I have to admit I can’t be in a million places at once. And while I was bummed that I could not be at Ryann’s show to see it with my own eyes, I’m happy that my friend and new guest-blogger at It’s All Very PR, Helen, was able to attend and recap it for me! Expect more guest blogging appearances in the future…
Ryann Ferguson and Steven Jamail never cease to impress and Tuesday night’s Vote or Die Halloween/Election concert was no exception.

Directed by Ryan J. Davis, a veritable who’s who of young Broadway, along with a rising opera star and a Latinamerican Idol contestant, performed songs from Ferguson and Jamail’s shows Vote!, Tercio de Muerte, Clarissa and Nicholas & Alexandra.
The songs hopped from show to show, highlighting the depth of talent that Ryann and Steven possess, while balancing heavy, emotional pieces like “Look for the Omens” from Tercio de Muerte (a tragedy about a bullfighter) with lighter numbers like “D Gates” from Vote! (an upbeat comedy about a high school election). It’s pretty amazing to see their range of subject and musical styles, but they’re pretty amazing people so I expected nothing less.
Each of the performers brought their own personality and flair to the concert, making jokes and acting the parts of the characters they portrayed. In talking with other audience members after the show, we all agreed that we were blown away by the talent we had just seen. I could honestly say something wonderful about each and every performer so instead I’ll just thank them all for an entertaining night of fun!
Ferguson and Jamail complimented the songs with color commentary, providing background, snapshots of their inspiration and of course, some funny tales. I always love seeing my friends in their element, and Ryann was definitely “on”! She makes a perfect host and is a natural on stage.
The Zipper Factory was a fantastic venue for the series; the quirky and intimate style was ideal for the show and the house was full (despite the not-so-nice weather). The lighting and live band rounded everything out and made for a very professional concert.
On top of putting on a great show, partial proceeds from ticket sales went to Rock the Vote. Talent and social consciousness? How much better can it get?!
